PARK TICINO | SITE OF PARK ZURICH
COMPETENCE CENTERS
COMPETENCES IN FOCUS
INTRODUCTION
The Park is structured in thematic competence centers, where enterprises and academic institutes cooperate on common projects under broad strategic and financial independence.
The concept of an Innovation Park, based on Competence Centers, targets the goal of creating a sort of development center external to the companies but built around common goals, shared between companies active in the same fields or with complementary expertise, where the companies can bring their inputs and jointly participate to the results.
The aim is to create an interface with the know-how of Ticino’s universities (USI and SUPSI) in order to facilitate and promote technology transfer processes that can match the company’s requirements. For this purpose, the Competence Centers are conceived as associations between companies and universities.
The competence centers represent public-private initiatives that are presented to the Park management. They are assessed according to a precise process that includes several stages before final approval.
LIFE SCIENCES
First focus area are the biofabrication technologies for industrial applications and as alternative model to pre-clinical animal testing.
ICTs
Where lifestyle industries meet digital technologies to fulfil increasing customer expectations, anticipate market trends and innovate through user-centered design.
MECHATRONICS, ELECTRONICS & MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY
Explore, innovate and enable application and project with drones in an outdoor regulated test site with alpine real conditions.
It is important to note that there are many interdisciplinary connections between these three areas. Blockchain technology can be used in pharma logistics, drones can be used to deliver drugs, and principles developed in pharma can be used to develop drone algorithms. We are therefore aiming for cross-fertilisation between these different competencies.
