INNOVATION PARK TICINO AND SDBC HOST VISIT BY A DELEGATION FROM VIRGINIA TECH UNIVERSITY

A delegation of academic partners from Virginia Tech University (USA) with the Virginia Tech Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership visited Switzerland Innovation Park Ticino and its competence center Swiss Drone Base Camp. The focus of the day was to present the applied research and drone activities carried out by competence center’s companies and the three universities in their research centers (USI, SUPSI and Virginia Tech). This allowed participants to discover the projects and get to know each other better, as well as to recognize the similarities between the activities carried out by the two nations giving the opportunity to identify possible areas of collaboration overseas. Moreover, thanks to an interesting guided tour at Istituto Dalle Molle of Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI)’s laboratories, the group was able to see for themselves, through simulations and tests, the technological innovations developed in Canton Ticino and the important contributions they can make to the creation and evolution in the use of drones.
